Skin Milk: Kristen Giorgi Shares Her One-Hour Routine

When you’re trained in fine art like Kristen Giorgi, one tends to look at all aspects of life through an artistic lens — the canvas that’s patiently awaiting it’s near future, the decor that furnishes the home, and even, one’s daily routines. In this edition of Skin Milk, the 30-something painter (who yesterday invited Bleu into her goals-worthy Atlanta apartment to discuss life off-duty, the evolution of her style, and swapping art with other creatives) gives us a look inside yet another aspect of her world: her beauty cabinet. With shelves loaded with small-batch beauty products to discover, plus the addition of a few familiar players, Kristen is a walking example that beauty is all about balance. That and tailoring a routine that makes you look and feel your best. Let’s get into it…

Tell us about your morning routine:  “I wake up and make coffee, drive my daughter to school, come home, and go through emails in my pajamas. Then, I either go workout or get showered and dressed to go straight to the studio. I have been actually getting dressed lately (hair and makeup) and I’ve been feeling like it is making me more productive.”

How long does your morning routine typically take you from start to finish?  “It truly depends on the day, but if it’s a full one, about an hour.”

Shower in the morning, at night, or both?  “Morning!”

Tell us a bit about your (AM) skincare routine:  “It’s very simple! I wash my face in the shower and use moisturizer. I switch between La Mer and Glossier.”

Tell us a bit about your makeup routine:  “I like to switch it up for special occasions, but it’s usually all about good under-eye coverage, blush, and a great mascara. I love the one from Trish McEvoy.”

Tell us a bit about your haircare:  “Lately, I have been using the Kristen Ess brand shampoo and conditioner from Target. I get my hair cut two to three times a year, and my colorist just does my roots about every three weeks. I get keratin treatments in the summer because I have very frizzy, unruly hair.”

Tell us a bit about your body / beauty from the inside / wellness habits:  “I have quite a balance because I love health and wellness, but am not a stranger to a fun night out with friends. I workout as much as I can and drink tons of water. I feel like water is the solution to all of our problems. When people ask me how my skin looks so good, I should really just say water and sleep. Products sometimes don’t really matter, however I love them!”

Tell us a bit about your (PM) skincare routine:  “I wash my face with Institut’ DERMed renewing cleanser, then do a glycolic toner from The Ordinary. Then, I use a nighttime face mask moisturizer from True Botanicals.”

Biggest beauty secret / advice?  “Water. Sleep. Repeat.”
