What Was The Last Thing You Spent Money On?

We find it so interesting to learn how others spend or save their hard earned cash. Finances are such a personal thing. While one person may find it necessary to budget in their skim milk latte each and every morning from the coffee shop down the street, another may have a strict black coffee at home rule to save a few bucks. Simply out of curiosity, and just because it’s fun, we asked a few friends to share what their very last purchase was…

Tiana Lewis: “Sam and I went for French fries at Hugh Baby’s late last night.”

KB: “Hair clips and a bunny keychain in Chinatown.”

Johanna Followill: “The actual last thing I spent money on was my Direct TV Now subscription, but that’s a boring auto payment. So truly the last thing I spent money on was a skirt and pants from Reformation (in light of not spending money on clothes in 2019 — clothing was my Mother’s Day gift) that I just now got around to ordering.”

Laura Carney: “A coffee from the Starbucks drive-thru.”

Meghann Stephenson: “A pair of Saint Laurent sandals I have wanted for months that went on sale.”

Summer Dawn: “I just ordered an avocado toast from Great Jones Juice Bar.”

James Kicinski-McCoy: “After a ‘mommy and me’ mani / pedi date with my daughter Birdie, we stopped at Walgreens for Good and Plenty’s (my favorite candy) and she picked out Roblox and Tokidoki blind boxes for herself and her little brother Sailor.”

Chandler Turner: “A pitcher of beer at Dino’s.”

Jen Auerbach: “Toothpaste on Amazon Prime.”

Sarah James: “Dry cleaning. #boring”

Marie Nichol: “A taxi ride to the Rome airport.”

Whether it was a pack of gum, a pack of cigarettes, a new pair of shoes, groceries, or a tank of gas, we want to know: what was the last thing you spent money on? Join in on the conversation below.

Groceries. Veggies, milk and frozen berries to see me through the next few days. Dull, but I’m also proud of myself for not buckling in TK Maxx and buying fancy hair stuff just because it was discounted.

A pair of medium wash wide leg Everlane denim drop 2 jeans + two muscle tees. All my pants and jeans are too tight and instead of beating on my body I sell my old pairs and buy new ones. Comfort and self love always comes first.

We had to replace our central air conditioning unit. After 3 very warm summers of ‘roughing it’ with a (very noisy) bedroom window unit, we finally caved for comfort.

Tomatoes. I’m running a self-project right now. That means not buying for a year. No clothing, no accessories, no luxury products. I buy food and sometimes cosmetics when it’s empty. But I make sure that the products I buy are vegan, without animal testing. Hard for me, because I work in the fashion industry, but an amazing experience.

I recently bought some solid perfumes and some dusting powder from Lush. It’s gonna be a delicious smelling summer.
