Underneath It All

There are some people that strip their bras off the minute they walk through the door. Others can’t stand going without and compare their brassiere to the likes of a security blanket. There are those that can’t fathom spending more than $25 for 5 pairs of undies at VS in the mall, whereas some of us would rather splurge on what lies beneath rather than the clothes that hide it. I land somewhere in between. There are days that I prefer to free-boob it, although most days I prefer to strap these babies in tight. I don’t mind spending money on nice undergarments, but that wasn’t always the case. I’ve learned to appreciate lingerie and to explore my more vulnerable, risqué side. Although if I’m being honest, I don’t reach for the sexy stuff as often as I’d like — cotton “granny panties” are life. But, I do try to put on a lacy little number before date night, you know, just in case.

I actually have quite a nice collection of underwear. And, I am actively growing my collection of nicer lounge wear, too. I spend too much of my time at home in ratty t-shirts and sweatpants. I want to be the woman who wears her pale pink satin slip with delicate lace inlays while making breakfast in the morning. I want to be the woman who reaches for the silk robe after a shower, rather than the frumpy terry cloth variation with strings hanging down from a year’s worth of snags that are begging for a trim. It’s a goal of mine. Some may call it silly, but I do feel better about myself when I’m wearing something pretty. I think it’s important for women to feel sexy — to be feelin’ themselves as often as possible. I’m always striving for confidence and to feel good in my skin, and of course there are many things that can contribute to that, but sometimes it can be as simple as a cute pair of underwear, hence what sparked my extra long trip down the Google rabbit hole and the reason for today’s catalog of silk and lace.
